ETC History

ETC was founded by Bill Maronet in 1987 as a company that provided the latest in home automation technology. He started the company to provide an unparalleled level of service to the luxury residential market, mostly because he did not see any other company servicing people at the level he felt was appropriate. More than 20 years later, ETC has grown from a one employee start-up company to a nationally recognized, award winning enterprise.

With more than 40 years experience in the high-tech and telecom fields, Bill started as an installation and service contractor for International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT) in the late 1960s. Building on his vision and technical skills he acquired early in his career, he grew ETC into a full service design and installation company to serve all your home technology needs.

Bill believes that the real strength behind ETC as a company is the quality of the employees and the overall commitment to service. He strives to maintain a very stable work environment which contributes to the company’s high employee retention rate. The ETC client benefits from having the same technician working on their systems throughout the years. This also lends itself to top level customer service; ETC guarantees and delivers emergency support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This service based approach has worked well over the years as evidenced by the significant company growth from referrals.

In recent years, Bill has helped to establish industry standards for system design installation and service excellence. He is a Board Member of the Consumer Electronics Association’s TechHome division, and he is the former chairman and founding board member of the Home Automation and Networking Association. Bill and two other ETC employees, Michael Cogbill and Scott Fitzwater serve as instructors, moderators, and panel discussion participants during the industry trade shows CEDIA and Consumer Electronics Association’s EX Expo.
